The SLC Group is a Force for Good in the World

We’ve written a bit about our mission as a company – to do Good Work, and to support other companies who are out to do the same.

But what does “Good Work” mean to us? It means being a force for good in the world – a vehicle for opportunity and positive change for our clients, employees, communities, and our environment.

There are thousands of huge-hearted entrepreneurs out there, redefining what’s possible through business – and like them, we intend to become one of the best enterprises in the world for the world.

Last quarter, we formally launched our Two to the Future Revenue Give Back Program, through which we donate 2% of every revenue dollar to nonprofit organizations dedicated to youth financial literacy.

Here are some of the other commitments we’ve made as a company:

Equitable Salaries

Last year, CNBC reported that in 2020, CEOs of the top 350 firms in the U.S. were paid, on average, 351 times more than their typical workers. The same article goes on to say that an estimated 80% of S&P 500 companies pay their CEO over 100 times more than they pay their median worker.

Now, while we love, respect, and value business owners and executives, we have to say that this level of income inequality is insanity.

We believe our employees are the heart of our company, and we intend to put our money where our mouth is. We’ve capped executive compensation at 10X the salary of our lowest-paid full-time workers. (And by the way, “full time” at The SLC Group is 32 hours per week.)

In addition, our employee Profit Sharing program ensures that all eligible employees receive a cut of our quarterly profit distributions – not just our leadership team. Our staff is at the source of our results, and every single one of them gets to share in the fruits of their labor.

Employee Benefits, Paid Time Off, Bereavement & Parental Leave

Beyond fair compensation, our employees deserve the respect and restoration of quality health care and ample paid time off. Eligible employees receive access to company-supplemented health, vision, and dental benefits. They also receive 2 weeks of paid time off and up to one week of paid bereavement each year, in addition to state-minimum paid sick time.

For new parents, we offer up to 8 weeks of paid parental leave and an additional 8 weeks of job-protected unpaid leave.

Our commitment to our employees is simple: We’re in this together. Our company succeeds or fails through the efforts of the talent we rely on, and we’re building a company that benefits our employees as much as they benefit us.

Environmental Sustainability

At the core of our work is a commitment to sustainable practices, resourcefulness, and innovation. While there is always room to grow, we're committed to the following environmentally responsible practices company-wide:

  • Reducing paper waste through digital storage and transmittal.

  • Eliminating 90% of travel and commuting costs by utilizing virtual meeting software and online collaboration tools among staff and with clients.

  • Offsetting flight emissions with contributions to energy-efficient projects around the world.

  • Promoting and educating employees on energy-efficient practices and processes to use their home offices.

As a young company, we realize we have infinite room to grow as a force for good in the world. From the very beginning, we are staking our claim in the market to be one of the best companies to ever exist for all of our stakeholders.

We intend to make a massive difference – and our work with other mission-driven companies is an extension of our commitment to ourselves and our world.
